FACTORY is a project that discusses the fictional storyworld, transmedia storytelling, immersive experience, and narratives in moving images.
Initially inspired by Chinese Buddhist art and traditional European art, Chen delved into the mythology and symbolism of different cultures, searching for similarities, intersections, and connections between them. By reorganising, intertwining, and combining the elements that appeared the most in the different cultures and arts, such as ‘hands’ and ‘eyes’, she reimagines a new story about a fictional historical institute, FACTORY, that focused on the research of HANDS, EYES, PLANTS, and OBJECTS.
In this exhibition, the storyworld of FACTORY is presented through various media. Each piece of work offers a unique perspective, inviting audiences to delve into the narrative and the intricacies of the storyworld by piecing together the puzzles themselves.
