Inspired by Korean traditional paper flooring, crafted through the layering of organic materials, physical labor, and emotions. Functioning as an authentic corridor rug in practical use while working on, it is embedded with footprints, dust, residues with layers of artistic process.

Cindy Youngcil Park
Cindy Youngcil Park is a painter from South Korea, based in Singapore. Influenced by Dansaekhwa and abstract expressionism, she interweaves her personal journey through time. Her works emanate a sense of lightness achieved through layers of meticulously repeated cleaning gestures of filling and emptying. It is filled with organic colours, textured papers, and various brushwork, harmonising European and Korean artistic traditions. Park draws attention to often overlooked elements, such as the less visible yet crucial aspects, including household chores, interwoven with accompanying emotions. She believes these elements deserve recognition and expression. Park collects footprints, handprints, dust, residues, and time in her works, presenting a radiant reflection of ageing and the traces and intersections of everyday life. This embodies the idea that despite life’s inevitable scratches and dents, we persevere. With proper management, such as cleaning and caring, they can transform into resilience, nurturing growth and brilliance. Time leaves its mark on one’s being, and within, one can discern a luminous shine, offering comfort and inspiration thereafter.
With an academic background in journalism, mass communication, and animation, Park’s journey has taken her from TV/radio commercial and animation production to practising as a professional painter.
